I have an excellent therapist who is employing exercises that are leading to major insights on my inability to let go and move on. I have a tendency to always see the bright side, and behind the scenes, there is a part of me who believes, even in the face of great loss and heartbreak, that I can recreate whatever magic or joy I’m losing. In that effort to recreate joy and compensate for loss, I meet with failure - you really can’t replace a person who is no longer there. This cycle causes me to continually re-experience loss, prevents me from moving on.
