I'm in the process of counseling and in less than a month I've been able to overcome some major issues haunting me for decades. My therapist is amazing.
You have to discuss the scheduling though. We agreed on 1 chat session on Monday and video call on Wednesday. In between, I write her messages and she sends me articles to read. This has been a major help for me.
Some things you just cannot process on your own as efficiently as with a therapist and being at home in my pajamas makes me feel quite relaxed, vs. getting ready and driving to an office.
The price-point is also a major advantage. I get so much insight during the continuous contact throughout the week for less than it would cost me per hour in the office.
Don't listen to people who weren't able to connect. I'm sure there may be some bad apples as in any profession, but for me, the only downside at first was the scheduling issue. Once resolved I felt like I was on the right track. If you manage to keep your cool on that in the first week, you will be well on your way towards recovery.
