I have been dealing with mental health issues since I was a child, but in unhealthy ways. Now that I am a mother and pushing 30, though, these issues have become much more unbearable. I have received a lot of help from medical professionals in my area, but due to me having small children and little to no child care, going to the therapies and classes was massively difficult; not to mention, most of the practices say that my level of care is too “acute” since I had an attempt.
BetterHelp has given me the chance to work with someone who ran the same type of programs I can no longer attend. I appreciate that I can be home with my kids and still work on myself. It helped put me back on track to building healthy habits. Also, my therapist is very responsive and actually reads through my journal entries. She proactively checks up on me and takes no offense if I don’t respond.
I still believe that there are some services that BetterHelp simply cannot provide (as the website itself states); however, it is life-changing to be deep in the weeds of anxiety or depression, and someone comes to sit with you, instead of needing you to meet them on their terms.
Thank you BetterHelp!
