    BetterHelp

Video quality isn't the best, but really good

    • Length of Use: Less than 3 months
    Overall Experience:

So far, my experience with BetterHelp has been great. It's cheap and it's useful. You can journal whenever you want and if you can't think of anything to write about they have prompts you can look through for inspiration. You can join multiple types of group sessions whenever you want and set up a session with a personal therapist yourself with the times that are available.

There are a couple of things that I think could be improved. One is the video quality. It isn't great and sometimes it's hard to hear if my therapist's camera is off.

I also think it would be a lot more budget-friendly if the payment method was weekly or at least bi-weekly. Some people can afford to pay $50 in one sitting for one session, but paying $200 for 4 sessions in one sitting is a sacrifice. I ended up getting a credit card for this reason. I appreciate that it's much cheaper than office sessions, which are typically $200 for one session. I just think it would be much less of an issue if you can pay for one session, decide you don't want to use BetterHelp, and all you've spent is $40 so it doesn't feel like you wasted $200 on something you don't want to use anymore.

    Pros and Cons:

    • Variety of communication styles
    • Easy access to journaling and texting therapist at anytime
    • Easily scheduling sessions on the app
    • Video chat quality
    • Glitchy sometimes
    • Paying $200 in one sitting for 4 sessions instead of $50 a week for one session

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
