BetterHelp is a little pricey just because you have to pay monthly in advance. I have a varying income week to week so it's a bit tricky for me. However, now I'm on it I can't imagine interacting with a therapist any other way. As long as you keep in mind that your therapist is a human being, who can't be at your beck and call, then the chat function is excellent. You can send your therapist files in any format (eg. photos, voice notes) and you can choose for your journal entries to be sent straight to them as well.
I recommend it if, like me, you always have things you want to talk about during the week but forget by the time your session comes around. You can just send thoughts over as they come to you. And your therapist can either reply when they are able, or you have it there to discuss in your session.
You only start paying once a therapist is assigned to you and if your therapist goes on holiday, you can just request a payment pause because you won't have a one-to-one session, however, you still have access to everything else.
Pros and Cons:
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
