    BetterHelp

    Worth it

    • Length of Use: Less than 3 months
    Overall Experience:

When I first joined BetterHelp I was a little nervous because I’ve been to counseling before, but in person. I wasn’t sure how the online would make me feel but with the options to chat through messenger, call over the phone, or video call, I feel like there was so much support and opportunities for me to connect, especially during this time during COVID-19. My counselor has been extremely helpful and I get excited when I’m able to resolve a concern without having to talk to her but based off of the sessions we’ve had where her words of suggestions allow me to process throughout the week. I’ve joined 3 webinars so far and they’ve all been extremely helpful. It’s almost like a pick-me-up for during the week when I can’t immediately talk to my counselor. They are very informational and genuinely provide realistic outcomes of situations that happen to most of us.

The therapists/counselors also do a Q&A at the end which makes it great for individuals to feel like we can connect with each other and that we’re not in this alone. Sometimes some people’s questions answer a multitude of concerns when it gets answered!

The platform itself is very easy to navigate and I rarely had any technical issues. Due to my area sometimes connectivity was a problem but that was not a BetterHelp platform fault. The only true issue I have with the platform is that I wish there was a way for me to see further out of my counselor's schedule even after booking a time and when I initially signed up, there was an offer for a discounted rate for students but I had to submit an email versus picking the option from the beginning. It did get resolved immediately and customer service was very nice and speedy with their responses. Overall, a great mental health platform and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get better!

    Pros and Cons:

    • Opportunities of different ways to talk to therapist with chat, phone, and video call
    • Platform is easy to navigate
    • Plenty of resources to help almost every day
    • Great matching for therapist
    • Payment options menu doesn’t allow discount to be selected first
    • After booking scheduled time with therapist, cannot see any other availability unless cancel current scheduled time
    • No PDF or saved library for the webinars to review at a later time

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
