    BetterHelp

    A fantastic platform

    • Length of Use: 3–6 months
    Overall Experience:

I cannot say enough good things about BetterHelp. I love the fact that for the price I would be spending with a counselor face-to-face once a week, I get my counselor as much as I need to (which is unheard of in the counseling community).

Had I been seeing a counselor at an office near my home/work, if I needed to speak with her during the day (not on my scheduled day to visit) I would need to call the office and wait for her to respond. Sometimes that response would be something like, "You will need to schedule a visit..." or a phone call would be short and sweet. She's not getting paid extra to have more conversations with me other than our weekly one-on-one.

In addition, if my counselor asked me to journal, she would need to read it after my visit and comment on things on my next visit. That would always put us a week behind.

With BetterHelp, I can send messages to my counselor at any time and I know when she'll read/respond to it (she told me when she looks at her inbox). I can send pictures if needed, send a voice message if I don't have time to type. I can also talk to her on the phone (but I prefer video, so that's what I do). Not to mention, if I need an extra video/phone session with her, I can just go to her calendar, see the day/times she's available and book it (so two video sessions in one week for the price of one face-to-face session with a counselor near me).

If I share a journal entry, she reads it within 24 hours and always shares a comment.

Our weekly visits are always an extension of the constant communication we're doing throughout the week and we're not wasting time playing catch up.

If you don't feel like you're connecting very well with your counselor, you can change counselors at any time.

This truly has been such a lovely way to "see" a counselor. In striving to move forward with my grief and anxiety, I feel like BetterHelp is allowing it to be a constant current of healing. Not something I am only truly dealing with once a week in front of a counselor (and then I'm on my own for the rest of the week). To me, that type of help is more stop and go. That doesn't suit me and I believe that's why I've always struggled (and failed) seeing a counselor.

With BetterHelp, my counseling is active every day. We're communicating every day and that gives me the momentum to keep moving forward into better health.

Better Help is literally giving me better health every day.

    Pros and Cons:

    • The constant communication with my counselor
    • So many ways to stay in touch with my counselor
    • The price is amazing for what you receive
    • You can change counselors at any time
    • I have not found anything I do not like about BetterHelp

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
