BetterHelp offers clients weekly therapy appointments (I recommend utilizing either phone or video) at a lower rate per appointment than you'd normally be charged. In effect, it's simultaneously more costly and less costly than traditional therapy.
Because you are in constant chat contact with your therapist and are having weekly appointments, the therapy can be intense. I actually like this as I didn't find monthly appointments very beneficial.
The other thing I like about the app is that it incorporates your worksheets and journal into the apps.
All these things make it more likely for me to make appointments and do the assignments.
In terms of the quality of the therapists, they range in quality like anywhere else. I do think the app encourages people to review their therapists too soon. I like to see how things are going over a longer span of time. I wish it'd wait to recommend you write a review after you've gone through a few sessions.
My first therapist had positive reviews but really didn't offer a whole lot of help. She was too much like talking to a friend and not enough like talking to a therapist. But the good news is you don't have to stick with the first therapist they assign. You can read through a proposed selection of other therapists to find a good fit.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
