These people with BetterHelp are genuine and caring to be understanding and helpful to do what they can to meet your needs. Be patient and let the counselors and others with BetterHelp get familiar with you. It takes time for them to learn who you are and why you're here. It helps them to know more of you to better help you. For instance, when my counselor mentioned that I tend to blame myself for situations that took place. It took her some time to see and learn that about me. So my biggest advice is give them some time to learn about you and open up to them everything you can because they are good people that are here for you and to help you learn, grow, and reach your goals. Don't be afraid if you just don't feel like one counselor is connecting with you...to change counselors. You don't have to explain if you don't want to, but you have the option if you want to. Also, it doesn't charge anything to switch councilors. I also learned it took away from the first counselor to give her a chance to get to know me and learn what I needed/wanted, etc. I almost switched again but I'm so glad I didn't switch. Kimberly was amazing! It crossed my mind to switch, but then I thought let me try this a little longer before I jump off. And I did and learned all it was is they need to get to know you too...not just your situation. Each situation could be treated differently depending on how the client responds or thinks or sees those situations. Keep in mind, it isn't instant help. It takes time to grow, learn, see different perspectives, resolve, and talk out situations in ways to better help. Give them a chance if you want temporary or long term help...Also if you are on a tight budget, it helps. They have other options to see if it will/can help you also financially to afford to get some good help. Muah.
