    Overall Experience:

    Madison from SDC reached out to me via this site and quickly issued a refund (I believe I had it the next day) and placed an order for new retainers. While I thought they were going to take five to six weeks, they shipped in about two weeks and I received them last night.

    I am appreciative of the online customer service and all things considered, I think I had a better experience with SmileDirectClub than most.

    Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Really gave them the benefit of the doubt, but...

    Up until two months ago my experience with SmileDirectClub was smooth and they delivered on all their promises at the time. My consultation/scan was quick and efficient and I was offered a $25 gift card if I let them film the process. I never got the gift card, but it wasn’t a big deal. The results came back after about two weeks and then the box of aligners arrived about two weeks after that, so everything was on schedule.

    The first set of aligners were the most uncomfortable, but that was to be expected and never was the discomfort unreasonable. I was on a five-month plan and only had some slight crowding in my bottom teeth to correct (I previously had braces). I followed the wear instructions exactly and my teeth straightened out as projected. While I’m happy with the end result, the retainer process has been extremely frustrating and for that reason alone I would not recommend the company to anyone, because I know there are a lot of problems that other people have. I "preordered" my retainers as instructed on the website in mid-November because I wanted to have them by the time I was done with treatment (December 15). I never heard anything back or received confirmation, and by the beginning of December I reached out to SDC because I was worried. The rep stated they did not have an order for me and that she would process one, which would take three to four weeks. Shortly after that, they charged me $100 and it wasn’t until two weeks later that I got an email saying my order had been received.

    I continued wearing my last set of aligners. It took a month for my retainers to ship. I received notification that they shipped on January 4, which were delivered today, January 6. I opened the package and there was only one retainer, the top. There was NO bottom retainer. I reached out to SDC immediately and would like a refund. I can’t afford to wait another two months for SDC to fix this problem. For peace of mind alone I’d recommend going with a more reputable company with some quality control.
