I was skeptical about trying BetterHelp at first as I have seen a number of counselors in my life, always having face to face sessions, which didn’t always help me in a lasting way so I wondered whether this would be different.
Well, I went ahead anyway and I’m really glad I did. Their matching algorithm paired me with a counselor who not only had the right experience for me, but who I also really connected with on a personal level. It actually really helped that I wasn’t limited to whoever was in my local area and I always felt my counselor was there to support me despite the distance - BetterHelp’s system allows me to send messages to her at any time so I could always share what was on my mind and get a response without waiting for my next appointment, which is not the way face to face counseling usually works in my experience!
Throughout my time with them, I have gone from a place where I could sometimes barely face living my life to one where I feel happy and in control of the direction my life is headed. Thanks BetterHelp, you’ve changed a lot for me.
