I am grateful to have had the opportunity to use BetterHelp during a very stressful time in my life. Turning 40, getting a divorce, and trying to protect both my son and myself as we exit from an emotionally, financially and physically abusive family home. In other words, the perfect storm. I was refused psychological support over 10 times by the welfare systems of England and France (I’m American, my ex is French), by eliminating the red tape and prohibitively expensive pricing, the scheduling process of BetterHelp stood head and shoulders above the competition before the first session even began. I found my counselor to be supportive, responsive, professional and left our session feeling that I had been heard and cared for. Which in turn prompted me to make responsible decisions to help myself. Truly not sure what more someone should expect from psychological treatment. If they allowed transcripts of sessions to be transcribed and emailed to patients, I would probably post it on my Facebook page. There are A LOT of people in this world who could benefit from it. My soon to be ex-husband is certainly one of them! They are also extremely transparent about the limitations of the service (serious time-sensitive situations like suicide, or conditions requiring "diagnosis" and medication). This straight forward approach is an excellent model, and I believe it should be highlighted to communities about how they can improve their own established, deeply flawed social care institutions.
