So first, the aligners work, and the process is all fine.
BUT,
I know it is the buyer's job top check with insurance on coverage, SmileDirect does not promise insurance reimbursement, but they make it sound as if there is always a possibility. They know, and knew, that Delta dental does NOT cover this treatment. Mail-order services are not covered by Delta Dental.
SmileDirect insurance dept made it appear as if they tried to work with Delta Dental, and support my claim, but when speaking with Delta Dental (3 different states) they make it clear that 1st the treating Orthodontist is not registered with them, and that they do not cover this treatment, and if SmileDirect really had called them to investigate my coverage, they would have told them over and over again that SmileDirect mail-order treatments are NOT covered.
SmileDirect later explained that, YES, some insurance does not cover mail order treatments. Funny they used the same term. They knew exactly, all along, but did not share or warn me up front.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
