It took a while after I made the decision I needed counseling, as I had adopted a nomadic lifestyle and seeing a regular counselor was out of my reach.
Be warned: this is not an emergency service and online counseling does not fit everyone.
As you sign up you are asked to give details about your current situation, so that the counselor that thinks will is best suitable can take up your case. This process seems to take longer than it actually does (a couple of days). It would be a great improvement to have someone talk to you before being paired with your counselor, as it would help the user cope with the waiting, that for some seems an eternity.
You've got journals within the platform where you can keep track of how you are feeling and share it with your counselor - or potential counselors if you had not been assigned to one yet. This helped me while I was waiting to be assigned to one.
I got paired up with an LCSW specialized in the issues I was dealing with. We started talking initially by text, then by telephone, but video calls were what suited me better so we kept having sessions by video call every one or two weeks.
The platform also offers webinars for free where they talk about different matters, you can pick the ones you are interested in and join. Due to timezones, I was not able to join any of these.
I'd recommend it for people going through a crisis that need support and guidance to overcome their problems.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
