My experience at the Upper Marlboro office in CVS

I met with Ms. Lisa, very nice and welcoming doctor. She handled my scanning process and initial sign up. She was very professional and kind. It was definitely an informative start to my journey. I can't wait to receive my aligners in the mail.

EXCELLENT

Today I had my 3D scan done at the Pittsburgh location and let me tell you, I was extremely nervous! Once I got there all my nerves just disappeared. I felt extremely welcomed and felt like I was talking with one of my close friends. Danielle did my scan and explained everything to me! She was excellent! She was very friendly and very easy to talk to. She made me feel so comfortable. I recommend coming to SmileDirectClub! I cannot wait to start my journey and finally feel good and comfortable with my SMILE!

A great experience

My experience with SmileDirectClub was definitely amazing. I had an appointment with Courtney P. in the Orlando area on Lee Vista. She was so friendly and just made me feel comfortable. She answered all my questions professionally and is very knowledgeable about the product and procedure. Pin pointed all the areas on my teeth to show where the problem is and how she can help. Great customer service

Great customer service through the mobile "Smile Bus." Yanet was our rep, very professional, knowledgeable and sweet. Although we did not make a purchase, super impressed with their technology. Unfortunately their pricing has gone up, hopefully, they will implement better discount programs. Still reasonable in the grand scheme of comparable products. My daughter used their system previously, worked great!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Customer service

When I first got my Aligners, I had several questions...about fit, pain, etc. It took several tries before I got any answers. But I did eventually. However, I had an allergic reaction to the Aligners. I could only wear them for 3 days. I have asked for a cancellation and refund and keep getting "form letter" emails saying someone would be in touch in 3-4 days. It’s been 18 days and I’m still waiting for an answer.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It is not the right way to do it

I ended up having to go to an orthodontist and have the regular Invisalign because SmileDirectClub had shifted one of my teeth incorrectly and created a gap I didn't have at the beginning.

Now I am ending up paying three times as much.

Don't do it.

Started off good but has gone down hill

My experience with SmileDirectClub started off great but has gone downhill fast. It took about 6 weeks to get the aligners back and get them started in November 2018. Process was moving right along, customer service called every month to check on my progress.

On February 20, I was getting down to the last two weeks of treatment and noticed that it was not working like it should. Contacted SmileDirectClub and sent over photos and was told that I was tracking as I should and that I did not need a re-evaluation. After corresponding with them for 7 days, asking if they received my photos, in turn they asked that I visit the Smile Shop (SS) and get images made. Completed that and proceeded to wait on the aligners to come in the mail. I never received an email with a tracking number, they just showed up in the mail 5 weeks later. Fast forward three months later…

First Re-Evaluation:

May 14, I was down to the last aligner, again, of the 1st re-evaluation (3 months added onto my original 5-month treatment plan) and the bottom teeth are still not where they should be. The SS had given me a separator to take pictures at the last visit, just in case I needed to send pictures in again. I sent an email detailing my concerns to the dental team. They responded the same day and asked for pictures to be emailed. On May 15 they responded that they received the pictures and would be in touch.

Second Re-Evaluation:

May 24, I sent a follow-up email because I had no response from the team…received an automatic email on May 27 stating that they had received my scans from SS and that they were working on the aligners.

June 8, emailed and asked for an update…crickets...

June 11, received a response, the Customer Service rep reviewed my notes and said that they were missing a scan and that I needed to visit a SS. They scheduled a SS visit and said that it would take 5-6 weeks for me to get more aligners. Called Customer Service and spoke to a lady that stated, the system had a glitch and that is why I received and automatic response that they were working on my aligners and my patient portal was showing the same status. She also stated that and email was sent to me on May 26 that I needed to visit the smile shop. There was never an email from them with that date asking me to visit the SS.

June 25, instant messaged customer service because I did not have time to sit on the phone and had now been in the same aligners for 6 weeks…I said that I needed my aligners expedited because of their system glitch my treatment was being delayed. The rep said that could not be done. I asked to have a manager call me directly and she took my information and I NEVER received a call from a manager. This would not have happened if the reps were calling the patients to check on them like they did in the beginning. After logging into my portal and seeing the status of "your smile has been updated and will be shipping soon."

July 16, called SDC, an automated message states "your aligners are being pressed and ready to ship, please confirm your address." I waited for a rep to answer and he was very nice and helpful. I expressed all of my experience and that I did not feel like smiling today because I had been wearing the same aligner for 9 weeks now, because of a SDC system glitch. Please tell me when my aligners will be shipped. I wanted a text message as to when my aligners would be shipped or someone to call me, I was told that could not be done, that it came by email. I insisted that after all of the glitches and emails not received and that last time my aligners were mailed I received nothing stating they had been mailed. He went to his supervisor and is now monitoring my account daily to let me know the status of when they are complete and when they will be shipped to me.

And to top it off…my top aligner had a piece chip off and it cannot be worn as it cuts my gums.

Needless to say, I will not recommend SmileDirectClub to anyone else. My teeth were not that bad and this should not have become the ordeal that it has been. My husband was wanting to use SmileDirectClub but now he will not he will go with Invisalign.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Genuinely disappointed

Okay, so I went through all the impression kits and everything and I received an email at about 6 pm saying that my photos have been reviewed and approved, then was told that I was officially on my way to a smile I would love. Then two hours later I get another email telling me that I am not approved and need to visit a dentist office to plan my smile transformation, even though one of the main reasons I chose them was so I didn’t have to run into the dentist office once a month.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not worth it

I have had such problems with SmileDirectClub. They don't move my teeth as much as they need to in order to get the next set and when you reach out to them they either don't get back to you or have you jumping through hoops. If I knew then what I knew now I would not have taken this route. It takes forever to hear back from someone, if you even do hear back and multiple follow-ups. I don't know how they stay in business with the poor service that I have experienced.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Save reviewing for AFTER treatment plan: The TRUTH.

PLEASE save posting a review of this company for AFTER you’ve actually attempted a treatment plan with them! Not based on your first office visit where someone smiled at you, offered you water, and now you think they’re "so kind" that they deserve 5 stars and a recommendation to friends. NOT! Please do not be so foolish - SmileDirectClub preys on exactly this (and anyone’s idea they can get true orthodontic pro care and results for pennies, paired with the laziness of getting your aligners in the mail).

I can’t help but notice the majority of 5-star ratings are from people who simply completed an initial office visit and did NOT base their review on actual treatment, primarily because they did NOT begin yet. They exclaim "I can’t wait to get started!" CONFUSION! You’re not qualified to review a treatment YOU DIDN’T START YET.

THE TRUTH: The majority of negative reviews (the majority: double fold the number of "positive" mal-ratings) are from those with ACTUAL treatment experience. I, myself, have actually attempted treatment with SmileDirectClub and it was an epic fail from a disastrously disorganized company, set up for quick, cheaply acquired profit from gullible consumers, who neither knew better nor could afford better. I’m still fighting for my money back from this nightmare of an experience from smart-mouth, callous customer service reps (adding insult the injury of an already botched treatment plan). I’ll have to write a voluminous series of literature to tell of the entire fiasco I survived dealing with the horror story named SmileDirectClub.

PLEASE DO NOT review this company until after the end of your experience with your attempted treatment, actual experience working with them to see their TRUE poor performance and poor ways of doing business with consumers. It’s foolish without it.

SmileDirectClub needs to either seriously do an overhaul, IMPROVE, their handling of patient treatment to be of true quality and dental professionalism, get organized, cut out making promises they can’t deliver, i.e. overall DO BETTER - OR just wrap it up and go out of business and spare anymore disgrace to the dental (orthodontic) industry! Spare consumers their time, money, and hopes. More people need to know that this company as it poorly operates today is to be AVOIDED. Go to a REAL ORTHODONTIC OFFICE and spend the extra buck, attending scheduled visits, and get your teeth straightened correctly PERIOD.

SmileDirectClub is horrible. I’m a believer in the saying "If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all." Thus, I am disheartened to have to relay the ugly truth about a company I too once enthusiastically trusted with treatment they frankly blew.

Customer service

I needed to have photos of my teeth retaken. This was done at an office in Melbourne, Florida about two weeks ago. This office opened a little over a month ago. The technician who assisted me is Lindsey. She displayed such an excellent attitude, and was very warm and friendly. Lindsey did an outstanding job in making sure the retaking of laser photos of my teeth was the very best it could be. All of the other employees along with Lindsey, made me feel very comfortable and important. These young ladies are professionals and truly care about doing outstanding work for their customers. I am also impressed with the results I have seen thus far with the aligners. The gaps in my teeth have diminished and things are looking better. The only exception is that sometimes there may not be a perfect fit with aligners down the road. However, I am very impressed with the customer service department, in regards to how they have provided exceptional support in setting up appointments for me to resolve any issues. Thank you SmileDirectClub for the great work that you do! My special thanks to Lindsey for being so sweet and great in what she does!
