Yays and suggestions

By Amelia A., Platteville, WI, Verified Reviewer

My yays: I like the articles. They are informative, relevant, and short enough to read during quick life breaks. I like the food logging and color codes. I like having a group and reading their posts, plus sharing my own.

Suggestions: If you travel for work, hotels don't have scales, so you can't weigh in. Please add a notes field in the weigh-in area to notate this. I'd also love to include my menstrual cycle to overlay with my weight graph. I count my steps using Fitbit, and it rarely syncs correctly with your servers, especially when I workout in the evening. It's frustrating when I did my steps for the day but it's not shown as complete. Could you add blood/plasma donation as an activity? This uses lots of calories and may encourage others to donate. It took nearly a week and two requests to my coach to be finally added to a group. I thought when the free trial ended, the group began, so I was confused. I kept being promoted to share with my group during week 3 when I didn't have a group.

Wonderful science based program

By Heather M., Minnesota, Verified Reviewer

I have really had a hard time getting myself going to lose some weight. When a friend tried Noom and liked it, I thought I would too.

At first I balked at paying for it, but soon realized it would be worth it plus I would make it back in the food I wouldn't buy.

I have been following the science of weight loss for some time and this program takes every bit of research and puts it in the program, leaving no base uncovered. You share your story with a group and it feels good to know that you have a personal coach as well as a group who are all trying to lose weight too. I after a month feel in control of my eating for the first time in 3 or 4 years. I really believe this will work for me and is working for me.

My only criticism is that goals that are set are not easily reviewed and it's difficult to keep them in mind without a reminder. I think it would improve the program to see how you are doing toward the goals you established for yourself. I would look back, but it is difficult to locate the information that we have already read.

Easier than I expected!

By KJ G., Quebec, Canada, Verified Reviewer

The program is so easy to follow - you do your 10-15 minutes of reading each day, follow the guidelines - it never feels like a lot of work, you never feel "bad" if you don't reach a goal, you just keep going and keep seeing results!

I love that it is all science-based - not some fad diet - but also presented in a very easy "digestible" (sorry for the pun) way, so that you always understand the concepts.

The support from the Goal coach and the Group is good - not great. I find the coach can take a long time to answer you - even though it's all in an app messenger, you're not getting instant feedback. The group is supportive when you're lacking motivation, but sometimes it's just too much and I end up tuning it out.

The Android version of the app is not as well-developed as the Apple version. The in-app step counter if very inaccurate, but it can get your steps from Google Fit. I have a smart scale communicating with google fit - but it doesn't send that information to Noom, so I have to manually enter my weight there (the Apple app pulls that information).

Overall - the program is working with honestly very little true effort on my behalf - I am making healthier choices and losing weight without feeling starved, drinking gross smoothies, or waking up at 5 am to sweat my butt off for an hour.

Good motivation - love the science

By Elisa B., New York, Verified Reviewer

The food logging is great (although some obvious inaccuracies in the rating system). The fun facts and science are also interesting, plus I love the sense of humor on the app. I find the group messaging to be not as useful - too many people making comments on lots of different things. Possibly, they could streamline that by only allowing the group leader to start a thread. And my personal coach has not really done much in terms of coaching, although she sent me a great article about mindful eating yesterday.

One month review

By Cathy M., Castroville, TX, Verified Reviewer

I started Noom at Christmas and have had slow progress, mostly due to my own circumstances. I’ve lost 7 lbs. I like that Noom approaches weight loss from the physical, mental, emotional and psychological aspects.

The articles are "nerdy" as they admit themselves and probably appeal more to those who are younger than I. One of my challenges has been remembering what the acronyms stand for. I have saved the articles in my library but know of no way to search for something particular without reading from the beginning.

My Goal Specialist has changed and I find once a week touching base not to be that helpful. I like the group concept better, yet I don’t always get my questions answered there either. The group coach suggested today to find an accountability partner but didn’t tell us how to do that. No one else in the group has posted about that. I finally figured out how to message someone directly.

Overall, it seems to be a good program. Even though I’m pretty technologically savvy, perhaps, I’m simply challenged because I’m older.

How to lose weight and feel better

By Joyce M., Madison, WI, Verified Reviewer

Noom gives you a "lesson" every day about how to lose weight, eat nutritiously, exercise and sleep better. It covers all aspects of your health. It also holds you accountable, with a coach checking in with you every day and making you commit to doing certain things like exercise or staying within your calorie allotment. Speaking for myself, I need someone to tell me what to do and keep me on track, so Noom works well for me. I would recommend it. You also have a group that you can message with who will give you support and keep you on track.

Best program ever

By Micka C., London, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

I downloaded Noom out of curiosity, expecting another weight loss/calorie counting/exercise app, just like all the others. It. Is. Not. It’s not just a game changer, it is a life changer. They get into your mind, and it’s all backed by science from reputable sources. It takes dedication and commitment, but it really really does work!

Helpful app

By Susan S., Brandon, FL, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for Noom after seeing the ad on Facebook and talking to someone who tried in the past. I need to lose some weight and did not want to pay a lot of money to do it or not be able to eat normal foods I like, the fact that I have to track things to keep me on track. I am somewhat concerned that I will be successful in losing the amount of weight I want to in the time frame they listed, but we will see.

Love all the nerdy science stuff

By Dani S., Erie, CO, Verified Reviewer

I had no idea what Noom was when I stumbled upon the add on FB. I then read up on it and decided to go for the trial. Two weeks later when I joined, I was already committed. I love how it encompasses so much from logging meals to education about how and why we eat and or do the things we do, which is backed by solid studies and science. I love how no food is really off limits, yet you're given the honest reality of how it fits into your calories for the day. I love how Noom knows we're all human and all have slip ups and or bad days, yet it doesn't mean to give up on everything. I'm thoroughly enjoying my Noom experience.

Help with the weight loss struggle.

By Susan S., Port Orchard, WA, Verified Reviewer

Mention a diet program and I've been on it. But, ever the hopeful person, I figured what the heck and went for the Noom program.

It's been a learning curve. I love food and actually looking at what and how much I eat has been interesting. Learning my triggers to clear the table by eating everything. But instead of thinking since I fell off the wagon I can roll in the dirt! Now I forgive my fault and move back in the diet.

No judgment from anyone, that's amazing! Help to find ways to avoid the pitfalls is awesome.

Unbelievably helpful

By Sandra M., Detroit, MI, Verified Reviewer

Noom has a dual purpose that they may not be aware of. I quit a 50-year smoking addiction the same day I started Noon. The daily tasks are also helpful in ending my smoking addiction.

I look forward to reading the daily objectives and am comforted by the perfectly timed supportive readings

I have recommended Noom to my sister's and friends. I am whole-heartedly behind the Noom experience.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
