A new twist for healthy living/ weight loss

By Maureen Z., Alexandria, VA, Verified Reviewer

I have tried other weight loss programs in the past. What I like about this one is that it is so easy to log your meals and find out what categories of foods you need to balance each day. I also like the behavior articles and the personal coach option.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Easy to follow and use

By Michelle F., Virginia, Verified Reviewer

I’ve been using Noom for two months now. It’s been the best tool to help me lose weight, to date (and I’ve tried a bunch of programs). I’ve lost 10 lbs to so far.

It’s informative; Noom makes it fun to learn and easy to understand what they are teaching you. I can’t believe how many myths I believed and Noom backs everything up with actual scientific research. Did you know that it takes 24 hours with no food before your metabolism slows down? Some of their funny quips are kind of cheesy, but hey, they’re Noom Nerds, so it’s expected.

It’s simple to log my meals and keep track of my calorie intake. You can even create a meal and it will calculate your calories for you. But you have to be honest! They aren’t pushy and never ask you to buy anything (other than their app, which so far has been worth it in my opinion).

You get a coach and group discussion board to help you. You can be as private or public with your progress as you want to be.

Thanks, Noom Nerds, you’re "awesomesauce!"

Program that really works!

By Colleen W., Chaska, MN, Verified Reviewer

Being a lifelong Weight Watcher member I thought I’d never try a different program. However, after nearly two years of not losing anything and their constant program changes, I decided to try Noom. WOW! What a difference this has made in my weight loss journey! The daily readings that guide us to make better and healthier changes have helped in ways that WW failed. The humor, timely tips, and hacks have really worked for me.

As of this moment I’ve lost 16 pounds! I feel healthier, stronger and more in control of what I eat and when! No longer do I blame my health issues on my lack of weight loss. Never do I feel deprived of the food I love, nor do I feel guilty when I eat sweets. This is by far the best life-changing program that isn’t a "diet!"

I’m a Noomer and I’m happy.

Not all bad

By Karen K., Washington DC, Verified Reviewer

I used Noom for one month before discontinuing it.

I found the information helpful, and I appreciated that it was designed to do a little bit each day.

I found the focus on weighing in daily to be overwhelming and I found myself obsessing over it. I also felt like the coaching, groups, and notifications every morning was too much. (My phone was CONSTANTLY going off at work, particularly at times when I needed to be focused on something other than weight loss.)

I liked the idea of the support groups, but I was discouraged when one woman hit her goal weight within a week. (I'm trying to lose 30 lbs. That doesn't happen in a week.) I felt like other users weren't really in the same place that I am, even though Noom made it sound like they grouped similar people.

Noom isn't bad. It just wasn't for me.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

An excellent experience

By Anne M., Wilkes-Barre, PA, Verified Reviewer

Noom is, as advertised, a very different program. It strives to create sustainable habits rather than planning a diet. I have not shed the pounds as quickly as I may have hoped, but then I am not "on a diet." What I do notice is that I am making better choices in terms of eating, exercise, and lifestyle. I see the benefits in about 1 pound per week of weight loss, in better sleep, in looser-fitting clothes, and in a greater awareness of my relationship with food. Especially useful are the daily tasks and strategies that come through the app, the research-based explanations, and the personal counselor who offers advice and encouragement and who answered my SOS when I did not check in for a few days. The group support is fabulous without being overly intrusive. I am so happy that I joined Noom and have recommended it to friends.

Finally something that works

By Cat L., Pekin, IL, Verified Reviewer

I have been struggling with my weight for a few years now, but I never found anything that helped. I tried writing down everything that I ate, I tried being a gym rat, but nothing ever worked because I didn’t understand other the other factors, i.e., how many calories are in those foods, working out doesn’t always mean weight loss. I didn’t have anyone or anything keeping me accountable. When I found Noom, I was skeptical. However, after the 2-week free trial I was hooked! It’s now been just over a month and I have lost over 15 lbs and my habits are changing! I feel happier, healthier, and more energetic! I couldn’t be more pleased, and I’ve turned on multiple friends to the program as well!

For task-oriented people

By Robin H., Albuquerque, NM, Verified Reviewer

I have been using Noom for 5 weeks now and I am really liking this program. Members are given daily tasks which include reading short articles about the whole concept of weight loss. This program is grounded in science, which I like. This program emphasizes that we are working toward a lifestyle change, much like another internationally known weight-loss program. I need, however, and Noom provides, those daily tasks that help hold me accountable. Additionally, you are assigned a coach to support you and after a couple of weeks, you also become a member of a group with a group coach. Noom has thought of everything to help make this experience both positive and successful.

Feeling smart

By Christina B., Plymouth, MA, Verified Reviewer

Most people that struggle with weight loss and dieting, like myself, have tried many if not everything presented without any lasting success. Yes some of the programs worked for a while, but the reality is that none were a sustainable plan so the "yo-yo" lifestyle goes and the struggle continues. Until I took a chance on Noom...so had no idea how very different this program would be! Every day I learn more about my relationship with food and the science and psychology behind that relationship. It’s through these lessons that I understand the ability to create a better relationship and therefore change my lifestyle permanently (no more yo-yo).

Noom has made me more aware and feel smart about my choices. I have recommended the program to literally everyone I know that shares my struggles (and some that perhaps don’t but don’t have the healthiest eating habits) the program is designed for self-examination and puts you in control of your plan with excellent guidance and easy to understand lessons. If you value your health, your future and your independence to be free from unhealthy lifestyle choices, then Noom is the right place to begin!

Done with diets.

By Arliene P., Pocono Lake, PA, Verified Reviewer

I am 66, was thin as a child. I am 5'3" and stayed between 110 to 115 until I was 35. I started to let the weight add on and when I started Noom was 180 lbs. I have tried low carb diets and my weight has yo-yoed up and down. I have joined gyms, tried to work out like an Olympic Athlete, then crashed and watched TV and ate ice cream.

Noom was my choice to try something for the New Year. I have been on the program for 4 and 1/2 weeks. I feel very optimistic about my long term health goals. I am eating healthier, exercising and have lost 9.7 pounds.

Like most people, I knew what I needed to do to lose weight and feel better. I just had difficulties applying the knowledge. Noom has given me the tools and support I needed. I was able to start out slow and am making gradual steady progress.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good program

By Mark B., Raleigh, NC, Verified Reviewer

Good program. I like the basic structure of the program. It provides daily encouragement and accountability. My only observation is I expected the coaches to be somewhat more involved with the group than just once a week. The group involvement has steadily decreased week over week. I attribute this to the lesser involvement of the coaches.
