If you are sick of trendy, unsustainable (and often unhealthy) weight loss programs and want to make some lifetime changes, give Noom a try. You aren't going to get a list of food you are allowed or not allowed to eat, a ridiculous exercise routine, or a bunch of BS about how quick and easy it will be. You will get a great deal of information about how to motivate yourself to move toward a healthier relationship with food, activity and your own perceptions of yourself. It is weight loss psychology and physiology based on science.
You will have a coach assigned to you and interact daily with some easy swipe-and-click articles that both ask you questions, and give you information. The coach chimes in via chat to ask or answer questions you have and help you keep on track. They aren't available 24/7, but I have been generally satisfied with the response time. It is a real person, not a computer generated response robot. You are eventually added to a group where there is a chat moderator who brings up pertinent topics for discussion and allows for interaction with others at the same stage that you are. You can interact with them as much or as little as you want.
The relevance of the daily articles is uncanny. It pretty accurately predicts what stages of weight loss you are at and gives you both information on what is happening and practical ideas on how to deal with it. Example: I recently have been experiencing a plateau in spite of staying on task with food/activity levels, and yesterday's "lessons" had to do with plateaus, how you're probably not doing anything wrong to cause them, and how to endure them until you start seeing results on the scale again. Also, how the scale isn't the only measure of success!
I am moving into week 5 of the program and have already lost 10 of the 20 pounds I've targeted. Even better is that my daily routines and habits are healthier for me and, I'm gonna say it, not as hard as I thought it would be. I feel like I have control based on solid, scientific information instead of letting someone else tell me what to do and when to do it, or just letting myself go.
There is a food logging component to the program that can be time-consuming, but is extremely informative! Be honest with it, you are the only one that will see it unless you want to share. It is not as good as the MFP app for logging ease and intuitive use, and this is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The app does interact with other fitness apps and can grab info from your Fitbit/Garmin/etc.
I highly recommend this app if you are serious about making permanent changes to be healthier in body and mind!
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
