Keeping me "positively focused!"

By Angela B., Indiana, Verified Reviewer

I am loving the convenience this program provides, as well as the nutritional knowledge, psychological knowledge, and support from both my group and my coach! My only suggestion would be to maybe break up the "servings" of information on to smaller plates (see what I did there?!). Sometimes it's too much to digest all at one time (I can't help myself!).

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Progress not perfection

By MG B., Oklahoma City, OK, Verified Reviewer

I love Noom. I thought I knew how to lose weight. I guess that's why I always failed in the past. What I like so much about Noom is the contact with people out there trying. It really helps me with thought distortions. I have a lot of those, with this program I reshaped my thinking. I was an all or nothing kind of person. Now I try to learn from everything. There may be slips, but that is not the end. It is a learning experience. I still have all the emotions around food that I always had, but I now know how to deal with those emotions. Oh, I also love the food journaling part of this program. The best part is the food analysis button. This really helps me keep on track.

One month - 10 lbs!

By Denise L., Mississippi, Verified Reviewer

I loved the low key approach at the beginning with a coach to be there to answer questions. After the 2-week trial period, Noom kicked in the psychology really heavy and for about 4 days I was very overwhelmed. Now things have ironed out and they are doing a better job of going over past info to reinforce your learning. My one suggestion is that they number the articles each day so when they mention something 10 days to 2 weeks later I could go back and look up that article. I am not doing a really good job of remembering all the initials, but I am basically getting the right idea for each day's lesson. Having to think and actually write down my intent and the reason for something has definitely been different. I love the reason WHY am I doing this to give me a real reason to change my lifestyle.

I would suggest to Noom that if possible, when you list a food that it shows up green, yellow or red so I don't have to keep clicking the find the info.

I can tell that I am making small changes that I pray last a lifetime.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Revolutionary approach; would be perfect with a few tweaks to groups and the app interface.

By Nicci K., Burlington, MA, Verified Reviewer

I have been using Noom for about six weeks. The program has made a huge difference in my behavior and self-talk, which is exactly what I needed to not just start losing weight, but to keep up the momentum. The program itself and the content it delivers is fantastic.

I love that there is a group component, but the way it is set up, it does not invite much interaction between group members. When the app directs the user into the group, the user finds herself in the main chat, and as a result, most of the posts there are unrelated one-liners that are unaccompanied by context. This is especially frustrating and confusing because, while we are all within the same week, I think, we are all on different days. When one person posts about counter-thoughts, for example, those who are a few days behind don't necessarily know what they're talking about. I would really love to see more features, including maybe automatic (and searchable) hashtags and pre-created threads where people are directed from corresponding tasks, so a discussion can happen rather than a declaration. I feel like the group, which is one of the things I was most looking forward to, is underutilized - I can say my piece, as can anyone else, but I don't really feel like anyone's listening.

Another feature I'd love to see is better navigation within the food logging interface. If I accidentally click on breakfast rather than lunch, I'd love a back button that I could press to bring me back to the meal selection screen instead of having to click done a bunch of times, then be dumped back into the home screen and click back on the food log. Seems like a silly thing but it's annoying and could benefit from a streamline.

Once again, I love the content and the program, and most parts of the app are awesome.

Not what I wanted

By Terry P., Nashville, TN, Verified Reviewer

I was less than satisfied with the program. It may be because I'm older (62) and want more clear direction and structure, but this seemed way too disorganized for me. I logged on and was told that I'd get a "customized" plan, that turned out to be nothing more than the same set of articles that everybody gets. My goals coach was less than helpful, with language that sounded much like she'd just finished reading the newest management book on the market. When I got to a group coach, she was more cheerleader than coach, with no personal contact. It probably wasn't her fault; my group seemed to have several hundred people in it. When I expressed my concern that I'd wasted my time and money, "Chelsea" canceled my membership, without discussing it or even asking why. There is no contact with a human being, and coaching-by-computerized-coach is less than effective for me.

Clearly, many people like the system, as evidenced by the overwhelming majority of people in my group, who seemed to be having tremendous success while I floundered, trying to get my footing. Overall, this was a waste of time and energy for me. I am quite disappointed.

Great healthy lifestyle app

By Karen S., Washington, Verified Reviewer

I have tried many different programs in order to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Noom is a really wonderful program. I love all of the interesting articles, and all of the helpful strategies. Also, having a personal coach that checks in each week is great. If you are looking for a program that provides wonderful support but is done on your own terms, this is the program for you.

I love Noom

By April B., Mountain Home, AR, Verified Reviewer

I have found the Noom application extremely useful. The ability to easily track calories, the color coding system for the type of food I’m eating is very useful. I have lost 8 pounds so far, and it has been quite easy for me. I enjoy reading all the psychological things, as well as the physiological items. Not much is actually new to me, however, a review is always useful. In short, I would recommend this application for anyone who wants to get serious about improving their health.

Noom is easy to use and is life teaching! It helps to change eating habits and why you eat when and what you eat. It’s helping me live a healthier life. The coaches and chat groups are helpful and always there.

New user

I wasn't sure what to expect.

So far, it is going well. Not sure the weekly coach has been helpful. The group coach is great. I'm learning a lot. I wish I could print some of the articles.

I didn't know what to expect, but Noom has exceeded my expectations

By Courtney B., Denver, CO, Verified Reviewer

I didn't know what to expect when signing up for Noom, and I was also a little reluctant, afraid of what it was going to ask me to do. However, my first impression was fantastic, especially when it essentially said "we're not going to do anything today, we'll start tomorrow." I think at that moment I knew this was something different.

The psychology-based learning is absolutely key, in addition to learning so much about food, how our bodies work, what "plateaus" really are and the busting of so many myths that have been driven into our heads for decades. I have lost about 10 lbs now in just over a month. I honestly didn't think it was possible. I thought I was being healthy and eating well before using Noom and figured it would be a bit hopeless. I was so, so wrong.

I am so happy with the results and my motivation has only grown since I started using Noom. I would highly, highly recommend trying Noom, especially with the 2-week free trial. They have something going here, something really different, and I think it's going to impact a lot of people.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
