Noom Nerds rock

By Dana F., Washington, PA, Verified Reviewer

I was skeptical about Noom. I have tried using other apps to log food and exercise before and this was definitely more expensive. But this one is WORTH IT for me! Noom provides a coach, a goal specialist, and a group for accountability...every day. And the daily objectives are great for goal-oriented nerds like me. They are witty, jam picked informational pieces that motivate, quell fears, and foster engagement. I have been working the program for six weeks and am more encouraged every day. If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be that some articles have typos and need some editing. Other than that, I am pleased to be making my lifestyle journey with Noom supporting and advising. I haven't even spoken about the food logging color codes and tips. Game changers. Take the two-week trial. See if it is for you.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Truly helps your mental game

By Celena C., Bend, OR, Verified Reviewer

I was a little reluctant to try Noom because I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm now a month in and have had a drastic change in my body and way of thinking. I'm prepared to be more thoughtful about eating, as opposed to grazing because it's available. I have conversations with myself to ensure that I'm eating for the right reason. And I've come to respect mealtime more. I'm thankful for their approach, which is always supportive.

It's okay, but...

By Diane T., New York City, NY, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for the program before the new year. They had a good price. my group doesn't apear to be limited so there are just so many people. Our coach seems to post generic messages and/or exercises weekly. There's little interaction.

Most of this program is about accountability and common sense. The group has already dwindled and it there isn't much support.

I like my goal specialist. The texts are just between the two of us and I feel that it's one on one.

All in all, I think the daily "lessons" are wonderful...I like Noom's sense of humor and the fact that they always find new and interesting things to discuss re weight loss...the ins and outs.

I don't know what I was expecting when signing up but I feel, for me, I could've done just as well with just my goal specialist.

Not sure what the rage is about.

By Chad H., New York, Verified Reviewer

I appreciate the logging of the food - better than another app I used to log. But the advice and stuff to read is too much small stuff and it doesn't sink in. It isn't anything that could be ingrained because the next day is something else. I can't remember what I read four days ago.

The coach/group isn't much. The coach doesn't respond for days. The group chat setup is lousy. No way to know if anyone replied to you unless you search for the beginning of the conversation - not very user-friendly. Do I really need to sift through everyone else's workout posts to find the conversation I was part of? What was the original post of that?

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It really makes sense

By Jennifer P., Centreville, VA, Verified Reviewer

My back story: I have been heavy my entire adult life. I lost 90 pounds using WW in 2004/2005, but slowly gained it back over the last 15 years. I tried losing it multiple times with WW during that time, but failed Every. Single. Time. I joined Noom on January 2nd, with some skepticism, and the mindset of "let's just see what this is all about." I am here to attest - IT WORKS. I am down 15 pounds, and Noom has helped me change my entire mindset about food, diet, and self-confidence. The daily articles feel like they were written specifically for me, like they peeked into my brain to see where I'm struggling, and then tailored the articles to help me address my issues. The coaches and group members are helpful, but not overbearing or intrusive. I don't feel like I'm on a diet, but more like I am slowly changing my brain.

I only have two negative comments: 1) I wish I could track my food on my computer AND my phone, instead of only through the app on my phone; and 2) the Android version does not have a recipe builder, so tracking a recipe one ingredient at a time is a serious hassle (Noom developers, please fix this!). But aside from that, it's amazing. If you're serious about making some changes in your life, all the way down to the psychological level, Noom is for you.

Great program

By Gail J., Amery, WI, Verified Reviewer

I joined Noom with my daughter to help me make the change to a healthier lifestyle. What sets Noom apart is the psychology aspect of eating and how we look at food. The daily articles are highly relevant to me and my daily circumstances. I like the accountability with my goal specialist, and although I use my daughter as my support system, I can see how my group could support me too. Logging your meals and checking how your food choices fall into the color categories has really helped me. I’ve lost 13 pounds in 5 weeks and hope to lose 50 more and keep it off with Noom!

It works

By Jodi W., Verified Reviewer

At first, I wasn’t exactly sure how Noom worked, but I trusted the process and was so happy I did. I’m losing weight and I’m slowly changing everything I thought about dieting and how I think about and use food...for the better.

I’ve definitely felt hungry at times, but never felt deprived.

Every day I am gaining new strategies and insights into how my body works and how to really live life in a positive way while working on my body at the same time.

The support teams are awesome. I have a long way to go, but with the support and the app, I finally feel like this is something I can stick with!

Not your typical diet

By Becky W., St. Joseph, MO, Verified Reviewer

This is a program that is meant to improve an individual's healthy lifestyle. One of the benefits of healthy eating is losing weight. I am six weeks into this program and feel great and have lost weight too! This is different than most diets because it actually deals with the psychology of eating (what to do with cravings, how to eat in moderation, etc.). The tutorials are interesting and funny. I am learning a lot after many years of dieting. There is group support as well as individual support along the way. The only concern I have is it has increased my screen time, but the trade-off has been worth it. I am hoping learning about the psychology of healthy eating will help me keep the weight off this time. I am very happy with this program so far!

Noom keeps you motivated

By Deb K., Iowa, Verified Reviewer

Over the years I have put on a lot of weight as I don't eat well. I was really sick with a cold some time around New Year's and I saw several commercials about Noom. So I signed up. It has been working for me and I lost 12 pounds in one month. Every day you weigh yourself and you log your meals. Every day you read mini-articles about why you eat what you eat. I like to plan everything in my life but I have learned that I don't plan my meals. Now I take time to cook a lot of food like chicken breast with veggies and then makes meals for the following week that I can take to work and have at home. I am not hungry and feeling better. Now I am trying to amp up the exercise.

Noom is motivational and informative. The explanation of weight loss and science is very helpful!

By Lori K., Indianapolis, IN, Verified Reviewer

Noom has a good balance of weight loss as a science as well as the psychology behind this journey. In the past, I’ve watched the calories but understanding what foods will keep me feeling full are more helpful and sustainable. The plan helps me get through real-life situations and I feel like I can enjoy eating among others. The Noom app is very easy to use.

It’s nice to have a group of people to help get through this and get support too!

Life changing

By Katenanne B., Amsterdam, NY, Verified Reviewer

In November of 2018, my doctor gave me the results of my blood work. All good except my bad cholesterol was high. I was not happy. I’ve always kept myself in pretty good shape. But over the last five or six years, life kind of got in the way of that and I now found myself 50 pounds heavier than the weight I’d always managed to maintain. I tried to lose it by myself up until December, but I was yo-yoing.

I saw the ad on Facebook and long story short decided to give Noom a try. Best investment in myself I’ve ever made. I’m down 17 pounds since November of 2018. I can climb a set of steps without getting winded. Slowly building my cardio back up. And I’m able to do the one thing I’ve always loved to do - dance like no one is watching. Noom is teaching me how to redefine my relationship with food and the people around me. It’s reconnecting me with a past I’d thought was no longer available to me. I can’t thank the Nerds at Noom enough.
