Comprehensive approach to weight loss

I love this Noom app for weight loss. It's not a diet! It's a way of life because they teach you not only how to eat, but why we do what we do when we gain weight and take it off. Every day is full of tips and guidelines that help me understand why I gain and lose so often. I never understood the psychology or the science behind it. I am beginning to feel that I have a more comprehensive knowledge about food and how I deal with it. I feel smarter. I feel wiser. And even though it's slow weight loss for me (I'm 68), it still makes so much sense that I stay inspired. I feel so much more free around food and about my weight. I have been stuck in the diet trap for over 30 years with anxiety and depression about my weight. Now I am beginning to see why I had those feelings and that feels so good. This app is giving me a feeling of personal freedom about food and weight. Thank you so much.

Great program

I really like Noom as it helps me keep track of my calories AND steps completed each day. My goal specialist keeps in touch with me and encourages me. I also like connecting with My Group. I would gladly recommend this program.

Ups and downs

I am starting my 5th week and some things I enjoy, others not so much. The structure of logging my meals, weighing daily, and the daily readings keep me engaged. The "coaches" have been the biggest disappointment. Not a lot of value added and no genuine connection.

Good psych and habit tips, other features leave wanting

- Food database is probably a quarter of what is available on MyFitnessPal, definitely needs expansion and improvement. Units are inconsistently available between foods, and some food "color rating" doesn't make sense. I've noticed numerous discrepancies/inaccuracies when scanning food, such as calorie count being off by 10 or yogurt being "red." Noom should work to become MFP and/or Fitbit compatible for this feature ASAP.

- Macro tracking non-existent, even though around week 5 Noom makes a recommendation to modify macros to favor extra protein. Macro Tracking is available on free MyFitnessPal. Noom should work to become MFP and/or Fitbit compatible for this feature ASAP.

- App compatibility needs improvement. Would be great to be able to import food log from MFP. Can use Fitbit for step tracking but does not import exercise tracking or food log.

- Psychology and habit building tips are great, but without the rest of the app being filled out as noted above, leaves wanting and would definitely be upset if I had paid full price for this.

- Coach aspect is OK, adds a level of accountability that not everyone can get from their social circle IRL. Accountability to those In-Real-Life can't be beat, but this is an OK substitution.

- Group aspect is OK, somewhat adds accountability. User interface/organization could be improved. Chat kind of floods and isn't very organized.

- I would recommend to friends if they are looking for tips on building better habits, understanding the psychology behind weight loss, etc. I would not recommend to friends as a good way to track calories, macros, or exercise. If I could import food and exercise easily from other apps, the experience would be greatly improved, but as a standalone app, I am disappointed at the experience vs. the list price. Offered at the 70% discount, I am a satisfied customer and feel like I am getting what I paid for.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great training and tracking

First, Noom makes tracking food intake very easy. No obstacles there. Noom gives me complete flexibility to choose my own diet while encouraging better choices.

The articles are fantastic. Very thorough. And Noom covers every aspect and topic related to diet, eating habits, exercise, forming habits. It's so extensive yet Noom manages to dole it out in bite sized pieces and with great humor.

It's easy enough and interesting enough to stick with for a long time which should allow me to not only lose weight but form new, permanent habits and behaviors.

This is the best program I have ever been in. It's perfect for anyone who wants to change for good.

LOVE Noom!

I have totally enjoyed using the Noom app. The daily commentary is invaluable and helpful. I have learned so much. The food logging is easy, and I especially love the analysis that helps me to learn which foods are best to eat more of and which to eat less of.

The lessons are fun and FUNNY and always give me a chuckle. I look forward to reading each day's information and inspirations.

It's not for me

I guess it is for active people who like vegetables and fruit. I am not active. I hate the taste of vegetables and fruit. I am in a wheelchair. The quizzes and lessons only give one choice to answer. When it is about exercise and running, or walking, I can't relate to that. It is not for me. I don't do the shopping or cooking in my house. My wheelchair cannot go in the kitchen and I eat what my caretaker fixes me to eat. So, it comes to eating what is being served or go without. I don't control anything around me. Noom is not for me.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great app

I am enjoying Noom! I love the tips and pop quizzes. Sharing with a group is great and you get tons of great ideas. I’m retired so I really have the time now to spend in this app. Logging food is really easy and I love, love, love the green, yellow, red food calculator. Really keeps you on track and shows you that you can eat the red foods with great moderation. I also love the green, yellow and red food lists. So glad I found you!

Powerfully motivating!

I've been using Noom since January 2, 2019, and find its combination of information, thought-provoking questions, community support, and accountability to be POWERFULLY MOTIVATING.

I'm 65, and am using that milestone birthday to spur beneficial changes that will support my wide-ranging personal goals for the rest of my life. Noom HELPED ME CRYSTALIZE those goals, and the important REASONS for them.

This time, I'm not just losing weight to look better - I'm building strength, energy, mental acuity and enthusiasm for every day.

(But losing weight is a lovely fringe benefit - down ten pounds already!)

Noom has me tracking my eating - not just to monitor calories overall, but paying attention to WHAT I eat, what it does for my body, and maintaining good BALANCE of the kinds of fuel I consume.

Noom automatically counts the number of steps I take, AND gives me a new (slightly) higher target to achieve every day. Keeps me going! Now adding other forms of exercise too, and SEEING RESULTS.

And Noom's coaches - individual and group - give valuable input, feedback, and encouragement.

I'm a lifelong dieting veteran - and Noom works much, much better for me than anything I've ever tried. EVER.

A huge, utterly absolute recommendation from me!

The IT folks screwed up your site

I like your content very much, along with your goals coach and food recording system. I used Noom when I was in Minneapolis and loved it. I rejoined this year and I am wondering what happened to your customer service? Your chat system is indecipherable, frustrating, and unnecessarily confusing. I have asked for direction several times and have found many other members chiming in with the same complaints. (cannot find posts or responses...no idea where to start, what is "threading," etc. It seems nothing is being done to answer the questions or improve the system. I am not getting the value of my membership due to this. Your old chat board was great. Live by the KISS axiom - Keep It Simple Stupid.

How Noom has made a difference for me.

I am very pleased with Noom so far. It goes way beyond telling what foods to eat. I helps you to understand your why you feel certain ways about food, dieting, success, and failure. It gets to the core of your feelings and your reactions. It has given me great tools to work with so far. I feel much more in control of my situation now. I like being held accountable for my decisions and Noom has helped me understand why I make certain decisions. Noom is positive and uplifting. It is nice to know that others before me have similar experiences. I have already recommended Noom to a friend, and together we are making long-lasting changes in our lives. I would definitely recommend Noom to all. In fact, I plan to tell my doctor about the Noom app so that she can recommend it to her patients as well.
