This is my second try at losing weight with Noom. I previously dropped out before the end of the trial period because an accident left me unable to continue at that point.
This time around I'm on week six and quite impressed with the improvements that have been made in the intervening time. The coaches are real people and there are fewer automated responses. It feels a lot more like there's personal support.
The food logging is easy and using their food color system and portion guide really helps to stay within a calorie budget. They also allow a range of calorie limits depending on how fast you want to lose the weight. That can be changed in the settings to allow for things like holidays. The only thing I'd like to see changed in the food log is the ability to navigate between meals without having to go back to the main menu (this is on iOS...I think Android might have that feature).
The daily articles are fairly well written and provide loads of detailed information about weight loss. The psychology behind it and the truth about long-held misconceptions, plus tips and tricks on what to do in specific situations and for keeping on track, are all helpful. There are suggestions for staying motivated and lots of recipe ideas as well.
The group has been an invaluable support and encouragement. I don't know that I would have lasted this long without them! I definitely feel like I've made some new friends there.
One thing that could make the app better is the ability to search the text of the articles. Specific articles can be bookmarked, but if you want to find a particular section, you have to remember which article included it. For example, I want to find a suggestion for a salad that had pomegranate seeds in it. I have to troll through a lot of articles to find it because I can't do any sort of search.
Overall, I'm really pleased with the program and how it's working for me.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
