Keeping me fully engaged

I was a little reluctant at first to pay for the service, as I have been logging food through another app for a long time, and I am a regular exerciser. But I gained a few holiday pounds and felt a jump start would be good. I'm glad I did. There are several things I particularly like about Noom. First, the daily articles are completely engaging. They are interesting, pertinent and extremely informative. They are also humorously written, so they're a lot of fun to read! Another aspect of Noom I enjoy is the coaching piece. There is my own personal coach, who has been extremely encouraging, and there is also a Group coach and chat, which gives a great sense of "we're all in this together." The group coach posts occasional challenges, which is also a form of motivation.

If I had to name a couple of parts I think could be improved, I would say that the food logging function can sometimes be difficult. Pulling up past meals/recipes is not always easy, and the barcode scan is not always accurate. Also, the step counting feature is slightly off as well. I was able to link Noom to my Fitbit, and my daily steps on Fitbit are a good 2,000 more than the daily count on Noom. I'm not really sure why this is (and it's not a big deal, although extra steps usually affect the daily caloric budget).

Aside from these minor inconveniences, I would say that Noom is an excellent option for someone who is ready to make a step towards better health. That's one more reason to like Noom, by the way, the focus is always on health, and weight-loss is merely a bonus. I have been on the program for just about 5 weeks, and I have lost 6 pounds. I feel great, I am learning things I had not previously understood, and I'm fully motivated.

Almost great

My experience with Noom has been almost great. My favorite parts are the daily reading, my coach and my group. I like the use of psychology and science involved, I've learned from the articles, tips, and tricks.

My least favorite parts of Noom is the journaling; it is made even worse by the fact that so many foods are not on file when I scan them, or are incorrect and different from the package info. Noom seems like a well planned out diet until I feel like I am doing something that should have been done before Noom even went on the market. I don't mind adding something occasionally, but I feel like the scanning feature is too incomplete. Also, the lack of recipe building has me working even harder at journaling, if iPhones have the recipe builder, than why am I, an Android user, paying the same amount as iPhone users for a less complete app?

Noom has a lot to offer, but I don't understand why those two issues haven't been handled better.

Just the support I need.

Noom has provided just the support I need to begin to heal my relationship with food and shed the excess weight. In 5 weeks I have lost 14 pounds, my appetite has decreased, and food cravings have decreased. I don't feel deprived, grumpy, or hungry. This is a plan that is helping change my habits and lifestyle and I will be able to maintain the new habits long-term.

This genuinely helps

At first, I was skeptical regarding the lessons as they seemed simplistically behaviorist. Over time, though, I realized this system digs deeper, changing behavior through encouragement, reflection, mindfulness, focus, structure, routine, support, and reliable information. I’ve lost 6 pounds in 4 weeks, but more importantly, I’m thinking about food and about meal preparation totally differently. I feel healthier, more energetic, and very hopeful about living a healthier life.

Not worth it

Not that great for the price! You get texts on occasion from people you really don't have a connection with. You get meals that you can create meal plans with. Didn't get a lot of the psychological help. They refuse to refund you money after realizing a trial was up. Not worth $161.

Good program to at least start the path

As of this writing, this will be my second attempt at using Noom for weight loss and developing healthy habits. I think the way Noom uses psychology and daily goals, along with a social support system is a great idea when it comes to helping those achieve their weight loss goals. However, there are still some things that could be improved. The program is very expensive to pay for, returning people don't get various deals or subscription plans. I also believe the food library it has could be greatly expanded. While yes there is an option to enter foods personally, it'd be nice to see the item you are searching for already there when you go through the search bar. Noom is a good program and is at least a good app to initially use to get you in the right mindset of a healthier lifestyle and weight loss journey!

Has Noom got my number

I am completely invested in Noom. I've tried to lose weight over the years with varying success, but Noom is the first program I've ever used that gets me, that has easily and consistently transformed my thinking about food, dieting, eating and moving. With a well-designed approach to helping me understand my inner prejudices and in understanding letting go of my mindset, Noom has used psychology to change my relationship with myself and with food. And it's been remarkably fast and easy to do so!

I've been spending time with Noom, reading great articles and stories, logging my intake, keeping track of my exercise (which I have to admit I was already pretty consistent about), and providing me with insight into the whole process. I rarely feel hungry. I haven't felt deprived. Even on days when we're traveling and I have to eat out, Noom has made it possible for me to choose wisely and stay on track. And the personal coach feature has been outstanding! I added another five pounds to my weight loss goal. I am losing more than two pounds a week and I'm engaged and encouraged and intrigued. I can't wait to see what Noom has for me for week 6!

And one more thing. I thrive on the encouragement Noom provides. Count me as one very happy Noom Nerd!

Not "a diet" but a way of life

I’d heard about Noom from a friend who’s daughter works for them, and having tried and failed to get myself on the straight and narrow to shift the weight I’d put on, I had nothing to lose so signed up to give it a try...and I haven’t looked back since!

I love that it isn’t one of these unsustainable, fad diets that restricts what and when you eat and excludes more than it allows. Noom is fundamentally all about getting those of us who somehow missed the lesson when they taught how to maintain a steady weight throughout your life...to finally grasp the concept!

Yes it’s a "diet" in that it gives you all the information you need to lose the excess weight that you want to, but right from day one the focus isn’t just on reaching your goal and disappearing jubilantly into the sunset thin for 5 minutes...it’s all about getting to grips with your own body and discovering what it needs to sustain itself, and therefore what you can eat post "diet" so you don’t regain the weight.

It is also very upfront about how hard it is to lose the weight in the first place, but tackles how you think about and relate to food to help you find a way to fight through to get to where you want to be.

Six weeks in and I’ve lost 13lbs and am over halfway to the healthy body weight I want to maintain moving forward...and I genuinely believe that I can finally make that happen with Noom in my corner!

Great new perspective of lasting healthy weight maintenance

So far in the nearly 5 weeks I have been in the Noon orbit, I have been impressed with the sound advice and science-based information I receive daily. The Coach and advisor are always at the ready to encourage and enlighten me. It is certainly a fresh approach so needed by someone like me who has to fight the battle of the bulge every few years.

Not feelin' it yet

I have been a Noon subscriber for over a month, as my title stated, I am not feeling it. In the end, the fault is entirely my own, I believe, but I feel no enthusiasm for going on the app social media style to talk about stuff. I am self-employed and really busy and not short of friends. I have been an exerciser my entire adult life, but have had a few setbacks in the past couple of years, so am ramping that up some and appreciate the reminders. I drink water - lots of it. I like it. When I have time I do read the items posted on the app, but most of the time it is things that I already know, or that apply to people who have bigger weight challenges than I do. I might feel more inspired if I needed to lose more? The app is good.

It works

I was hesitant to try something else since nothing works. The first week I started losing the weight and feeling better. Fast forward to week 5 and it's great. I don't crave sugar anymore. My choices are driven by what my body wants not my emotional needs. I have already recommended Noom to all my friends. Thank you so much for this program. Weight loss is more than food and exercise, it's a lot of brain too.
