My wife bought me a subscription to Flaviar as a birthday present, and it has been well worth it.

Each month, Flaviar send me a tasting pack of 5 different spirits, each sealed in its own 45ml container. The packaging is well designed - a stylish black box containing the 5 vials with accompanying tasting notes.

So far (6 months into my annual subscription) I have had boxes featuring varieties of a single spirit (2x whisky, rum, bourbon, and gin), and a box of mixed spirits that shared a 'golden silk' mouth feel.

Now before this subscription I would have said I was a whisky or gin drinker, some bourbons were OK, and I disliked rum. Flaviar has introduced me to some wonderful Bourbons (I particularly liked Knob Creek 9 year old), and delicious rums.

Flaviar also sell bottles of spirits at a substantial discount. They have a wide range with a few familiar names, many unusual brands (at least to me), and the occasional super-premium bottle - the latter being much too expensive for my wallet.

I look forward each month to my tasting pack, and I would recommend it to anyone who would like to widen their experience of the world of spirits - world being the apposite term, as I have tasted whisky from India (OK), Japan (wonderful), France (surprisingly good), Scotland, Wales, and Switzerland - that last one was very surprising, with a strong hint of smoky bacon in the taste profile.

Their customer service is excellent. I get an email to let me know when the next tasting pack has been dispatched, with a tracking number, and they have sorted any problems for me very quickly.

I gave this subscription to my husband for a Christmas gift. I was to order every other month. He LOVED this gift and has asked me to repeat for his Birth Day & Christmas this year. So, I'm very very happy with the club and recommend it to all wives that have husband's that love Single Malt Scotch.

At Flaviar, you can find out of the ordinary bottles from around the world without breaking the bank. I used to drink only malts from Scotland, but have found a whole range of whiskies/ryes etc from the USA. Christmas and birthdays are now easy for my wife and daughter with all the artisan gins.

I have tried a taster pack and it was lovely, a great all rounded mix of spirits, a great way to try new brands! I the ordered the "Greek Troika" which had Ouzo Plomari, Mastiha Liquer "Skinos", and special reserve Metaxa Brandy. All were absolutely delicious and arrived very well packed, promptly with brilliant tracking. I can't wait now for my next trip into the unknown sampling exotic tastes from another part of the world!

I'm primarily interested in whisky, bourbon and rum. Flaviar has a very eclectic variety of these and other spirits. And their prices are competitive with other online sources.

I received two bottles (faster than expected). The Benromach 10 Year Old was as good as 12 Year Old Yamazaki. The London No. 1 Original Blue Gin is the smoothest gin I have ever tasted. The only complaint I could have is shipping cost, but I understand glass bottles are heavy.
