Honestly, BetterHelp has been nothing short of amazing for me. Being a young woman, working full-time and living on my own, I didn't think I'd have the time or the money to get the help I needed.
When I first heard about BetterHelp (via a YouTube ad) I genuinely didn't take it seriously. A therapy...app? No thanks. I didn't see any value in something like that. Therapy for me had always been an in-person thing since I was a child. My therapists rarely were a fit for me and barely respected me, which I believed was the norm for therapy at this point. I didn't even want to give BetterHelp a try.
When I was a "rock bottom" with my drinking and family problems, not to mention the stress of work, bills, anxiety, depression, and so many self-destructive lifestyle choices, I didn't think anything, especially a "therapy app," could help me. Yet, I tried it. And I am so happy that I did.
Working the shifts that I do, it is impossible to have any sort of set schedule. This is why BetterHelp is absolutely perfect. I can schedule sessions that work with MY schedule, not the other way around like I'm used to. I chose a therapist that works for ME, and when I happened to not feel that the one I chose was the right fit, it was extremely easy to switch to one that did. I really love that because with past, in-person therapists, it wasn't exactly the easiest to switch, and I often felt trapped in a situation that was originally supposed to help me.
My current therapist, Dawn, has helped me so much in these past 5 to 6 months; more than a therapist has been able to help me. She conveys an understanding that she is there to help, and is respectful of my boundaries. She keeps up with me, sending me messages even when I'm in a state where I can barely make it to work, let alone carry a conversation.
BetterHelp is a simple-to-use and reliable site. Talking with a therapist or attending a live session isn't a hassle, and is very convenient for those who work odd shifts or live a busy life. You can talk to your therapist over text, which to me is brilliant. I like that feature most, because face-to-face can be anxiety-inducing for me, and probably for many people.
Overall, BetterHelp is a five-star service. It's convenient with my schedule, and makes it easy to get the help I need despite constantly working. It's loads cheaper than other therapists I've been to, as well. This is a genuinely life-altering thing. I recommend it to anyone who is struggling and needs help. I cannot recommend BetterHelp enough!
