BetterHelp connects you with qualified therapists who use a variety of platforms to communicate; text messaging and live sessions via phone or video. It is heavy on the text/messaging and live sessions are only 30 minutes long. It would be better if they were 45 minutes, it's hard to get into much depth with such a short clock but it's meant to supplemented at other times with texts. Therapists are quick to respond and it is possible to switch therapists if you don't click with who you're assigned.
It's great to be able to start therapy within days of signing up, waiting lists for traditional therapists run several months. It's not cheap, but it's worth trying for a month or two if you're able. Therapists provide additional resources you can use outside of the app.
You're only able to schedule one live session in advance at a time, which is frustrating, but there are typically several times open, including early morning and late night. It's a flexible, quality option for those who need help.
