Overall, I am very pleased with my experience on BetterHelp. I had an excellent counselor who I video chatted with once a week for about 3 months. The interface of the program is excellent - very user-friendly and easy to use. It was also affordable; I spent about ~$70 per video session, which might seem expensive but is much better than the $140 an in-person therapist might charge.
I found the video chatting basically as good as in-person. The fact that you can simply log into a computer rather than trek to a doctor's office is really convenient.
My only complaint was the initial process of matching with a therapist. I only wanted to match with someone who offered video chatting services, yet my initial match only offered calling and text. I requested a new therapist, and all of the options that were offered to me only did texting and calling except for one who did offer video chatting. I ended up selecting this counselor who (luckily) turned out to be excellent.
Once you match with a therapist you like, the program is very easy to use. And if you don't like the therapist you matched with, you can reach out to customer service. They were very responsive to me when I had this issue. Overall, I'd recommend to anyone interested in trying out therapy.
Length of Use: 3–6 months
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
