When starting BetterHelp, I was very skeptical. I’d read stories of people saying they didn’t have the best experience, which is always something to take notice of in regards to mental health, but I figured I would try it for its convenience and the free trial they provided, and I’m so glad that I did. I will never invalidate the experiences people have had, so I will simply share my own.
I’ve been using BetterHelp for roughly 3 months and I’ve seen more progress and improvement within myself now than I have in the past with all my previous therapists. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve taken and learned something from each experience I’ve had (good and bad), but never felt motivated or validated like I have now.
I like that BetterHelp offers you the choice to decide which therapist you go to and they make it so simple. There’s no need to have to scour the internet trying to find a provider that’s covered under insurance and then not have that connection and do it all over until you find the best fit for you. BetterHelp makes it easy by having it all at your fingertips and with the click of a button.
You can make a choice on how you receive your therapy with three easy options — video, phone, or text — and you can always change it for your situation or convince! My chosen method is video and it works great.
You can choose a therapist who specializes in different fields, such as inner child work or trauma processing. I’ve never done inner child work and it’s honestly been something that’s worked so wonderfully with me.
Anyway, just know that BetterHelp offers a free trial and if you know someone who is using the platform they can send you their code and give you up to 2 weeks free. I hope this helps anyone who has maybe been skeptical or afraid. I promise it gets better!
